Fortnite has arrived on mobile platforms, with Epic making its battle royale game cross-platform with PC and consoles.

The first wave of invites for Fortnite mobile on iOS devices have already been sent out.

Those that applied to take part in the Invite Event for iOS earlier in the month should check their inboxes, but be aware that sign-up was very popular and Epic is rolling out the service in waves. The first set of invites are focused on iOS devices, with Android set to follow in the coming months.

The battle royale shooter goes from strength to strength in 2018, with the mobile version for iOS and Android joining PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

There’s some confusion about how a mobile version works with other formats, which devices are supported and when exactly it’s available, so we’re going to help clear that up.Image result for Fortnite mobile: how to sign-up, invite friends and all compatible devices

Fortnite mobile sign-up
When does Fortnite come to mobile? Well, the short answer is now. However, you will have to sign-up for an invite and not everyone will get one of those.

Enter your details on the official site for the Invite Event on iOS and wait patiently. Invites will then be mailed out to download Fortnite mobile from the App Store. Each invite will include invite codes for friends, too.

Fortnite mobile: how to invite friends

Each user has three invite codes for Fortnite mobile so you can send them to friends and play in a squad if you want to. You’ll see a notification in the lobby on the right hand side of the screen. To send out invite codes do the following:

  • Launch Fortnite
  • Wait for the game to connect to the Fortnite servers
  • In the Fortnite Lobby, tap the Invite Friends tab
  • Tap Share Invite Code
  • Tap the method you want to share the Invite Code: either directly to an Epic account or via email
  • Tap send

Once your friends have accepted the invite and signed up for an Epic account they’ll be automatically added to your friends list.

Is Fortnite on mobile different to PC, Xbox One and PS4?

According to Epic, Fortnite Battle Royale mobile will be the same game as it is currently on PS4, Xbox One and PC. That means 100 players on the same map, with the same loot and progressions, complete with weekly challenges and updates.

Even better news is that Fortnite mobile will support cross-platform play with PS4, PC, Xbox One and Mac. This means game play and game progression will work and be saved across those formats.
